It might not be beauty to you, but this is beauty to me. Real beauty. Could anything be more beautiful than an airplane that can fly faster than the speed of sound? All the way across the Atlantic? With 100 people who don't even notice the altitude? 20,000 feet ABOVE everyone else? It's magic. I've done it.
What a shame it's over. I mean, c'mon, who wouldn't trade places with these guys! Full throttle, sit back, enjoy the stars and two hours, 3000 miles later, slow it down to land!
They don't make them like this anymore, either. We used to make cars that weren't just BIG, they were an attitude adjustment! When you are driving a Cadillac Eldorado you are on top of the world, not just moving from A to B. You weren't just burning gas, you were making a statement.
Some people say, Thank Goodness! Others (like me) say What a Shame.
Wouldn't you just love to drive across the United States, in a car with no windows, top or heater or A/C or air bags or radio or .... OK, well there are a few disadvantages, but still, it's living. I've done it, trust me. Do it while you still can.
They don't make them like this anymore either. Do you know why? Because we forgot how to do it.
That's right. We don't know how to make stained glass like they did 500 years ago. We forgot. You forgot the formula and missed the question on your math test. So what? Did your college entrance score droop a bit?
We the human race forgot what we were doing and lost the means to make a rose window glow like the sun.
We don't know how to fly across the continent with 100 people at 1500 miles per hour. OK, We didn't forget, we just can't do it anymore. Soon, we'll forget.
When you look at the medieval rose windows in French cathedrals, you get a sense of heaven itself. But you know how those funky old computer-deficient architects did it? With mathematics.
